Brett Favre

This story is getting more interesting as it appears the Packers are shopping trade options. I think about 10 teams are in the mix maybe more but I would imagine Favre will only go to a team that has a playoff caliber team already in place. Where do you think he will go? I personally know from my contacts that the Washington Redskins are very interested in him. If he goes to an NFC team I think it could very well be to the Redskins. They are a playoff team that could use a Pro-Bowl Quarterback like him to lead their offense. I would be shocked if they let a team like the Vikings get him that would not be smart at all. Another possibilty is the New York Jets they could sure use him but are they ready to make a Super Bowl run? I doubt it. Maybe Baltimore could use him? I think they could and would love to have him plus he could teach that Flacco kid too a double bonus. Should be interesting to see what happens in the next week or two. I can't wait for the season to start!

CELTICS NBA CHAMPS!

Last night the Boston Celtics won there 17 NBA Championship in style pounding the Los Angleles Lakers into submission! The game had to have been one of the most lopsided victories in Finals history. Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen all had big nights to help the Celtics close out the Lakers. Ray Allen after missing most of the second half after getting smacked in the eye hit 7 three pointers. A few of those shots he was wide open with no one near him, the Lakers defense was horrible to say the least. The Celtics on the other hand played great Defense, Kobe Bryant was red hot in the first quarter but when no one else on the Lakers had a hot hand the Celtics put the clamp down on Kobe and made the other Lakers beat them, which of course they did not!

I think this series was over when the Celtics came from behind in game 4 in LA, the Lakers did a decent job in sending it to game 6 but the Celtics were just to tough especially in front of their home crowd. For me it was exciting to see the elation from Garnett, Pierce and Allen. They all wanted it so bad after being in the league for years and finally getting a championship was great to see. I think any fan of NBA basketball can appreciate that.

The Lakers and Celtics will both be tough oponents again next year but this year was clearly the Celtics year even though they stumbled out of the gates to start the playoffs they figured it out when they had to and got it done with sheer talent and determination. Congratulations Boston Celtics!

Tiger wins playoff but needs surgery.

Tigers Woods fresh off his big extra 19 holes victory will need season ending knee surgery with a torn ligament. He has been dealing with this injury for about 10 months but despite the pain has managed to win 9 of the 12 tournaments he played in, unbelievable! Woods went against his doctors advice and played in the US Open that required 91 holes of golf to win it. Tiger is truly a remarkable player and his name fits him well to say the least.

Woods just played in 7 tournaments worldwide this year and won 5 of them. His victory over Rocco Mediate in the US Open was nothing short of amazing to say the least. He never gives up and is an intimidating force on the golf course. But maybe a short breather for all the other golfers out there on the tour is going to be nice for them and Tiger....

Lakers blow big lead, down 3-1 in Finals

What a game last night! If you are a Laker fan you are not a happy camper today to say the least! The Lakers played a great first half in last nights game leading by as much as 24 points. However they laid an egg in the second half, up by 20 points halfway through the 3rd quarter! They blew it big time. But you have to give some credit to the Boston Celtics, they did not give up.

Ray Allen was amazing last night, that reverse lay up with about 2 minutes left was incredible, he switched hands and double pumped while gliding through the air to reverse the lay up! He even made Sasha Vujacic look silly when he drove past him for an easy game clinching layup. I am not sure why they had Sasha guard him it was a big mismatch. Garnett played well and Paul Pierce and James Posey were very good in the second half. Pierce kept in Kobe Bryants face the entire second half making it tough on him to get off a clean shot. This series is not over but the odds are against the Lakers. I expect them to come out and play hard Sunday but all the momentum is on the Celtics side. I think the Celtics could even win it in 5 but if not they will win at home in game 6. I think Pierce, Allen and Garnett are hungrier for a Championship than most of the Lakers and they played like it in the second half last night.

Lakers get it done at home

Backs against the wall, must win all the lines you have heard before and the Lakers played like it was a must win and pulled it out in front of a home crowd at the Staples center. Kobe Bryant looked like the MVP he is in putting the team on his shoulders and carrying the Lakers in the 4th quarter when it was a close game. Kobe could not be stopped when it came down to crunch time with him knowing the Lakers needed to score. Ray Allen did all he could in guarding him but even with a defender in his face Kobe still seems to make the shot. I am not sure anyone can guard him when he is on. He scored 36 points and Sasha Vujacic added another 20 points.

For the Celtics Ray Allen was hot hitting 5 of 7 three pointers scoring 25 points total. Paul Pierce had an off night and that was basically the difference in my opinion. The Lakers kept in his face all night frustrating him and making him try and hit some tough shots. But still the Celtics were in the game with 5 minutes left which bodes welll for them if they can get the big three to all play well on the road they should steal one. Easier said that done of course. Let's see what is in store Thursday should be another good one.

Celtics hold off Lakers take 2-0 series lead

Wow what a crazy game last night! The Boston Celtics led by Paul Pierce and his 28 points came to play last night, well for at least 3 1/2 quarters. Ray Allen had 17 points as did Kevin Garnett with 14 rebounds and the unheralded Leon Powe scorched the Lakers with 21 points in 15 minutes! Unbelievable! But even crazier was the fact that the Lakers were down by 24 points with just under 8 minutes left but did not give up. They cut the lead to 104-102 with under a minute to go but Pierce hit two clutch free throws and then blocked a jumper by Sasha Vujacic to ice it for the Celtics. Pierce and the rest of his crew are on a mission in my opinion. The big three of Pierce, Garnett and Allen are all starving for their first title in their long careers. Up 2-0 they have a good chance but can they win a game in LA where the Lakers have not lost since March? It will be a tough task and I expect the Los Angeles Lakers to come out with a huge chip on their shoulders because certainly they could not be happy being down 0-2 plus add in the fact that the officiating was... oh let's say maybe benefited the home team a bit. I do think Phil Jackson was not thinking clearly when he basically slapped Leon Powe in the face saying his name wrong and stating that he went to the line in his 15 minutes more than the entire Lakers did. That may come back to bit him. Either way we are in for some more drama at the Staples center in game 3, stay tuned!

Celtics Beat LA in game 1

The NBA legends were out in Boston last night in full force but it was the future legends on the court that made all the noise. Last night in Boston the Celtics were lead by a determined Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett prevailed in game one of the finals. Pierce who injured his knee and had to be carried off the court to the locker room made a dramatic return to help lead his team to the victory. What could have been a huge blow to the series and the Celtics chances was turned around quickly when Pierce came bouncing out of the locker to the roar of 18,000 screaming fans! That was fun to see and you could hear the entire city of Boston breath a sigh...of relief.

All of the big three had solid games yesterday and that was the difference, Garnett with 24, Pierce with 22 and Allen with 19 points. I am excited to watch this series as it brings back memories of the 80's when it was Magic vs. Bird....those were fun times in the NBA and this is something the NBA has needed for a while know. Both teams have high caliber first class players on there teams. Somewhat reminiscent of the Lakers and Celtics of old minus the tight shorter shorts of course. Although this is the first time they have met in the finals since 1987 this is the 11th time the two franchises have played each other in the finals. If the rest of the series is as exciting as game one we are in for a very competitive series, will it go 7 games?

NBA FINALS

Well tomorrow night they tip it off in Boston. I for one can't wait to see what happens. Who will come out hot or cold? Which matchup will be the most fun to watch? I know Phil Jackson is a master at setting up the best matchups to benefit his team and puts his players in the best position possible to win. Who if anyone can slow Kobe Bryant down? Will Pierce and Garnett be stopped? One of them might but both I doubt it. Both will have to play well in this series for Boston to have a chance, and Ray Allen will have to be more consistent than he was all playoffs so far. I think the Celtics win game one in a close one. We shall see tomorrow night!

Lakers Celtics to face off in Finals

So here we go again....well it's been over two decades since the Lakers and Celtics have played each other in the Finals. The Celtics have gone from worst to first with the addition of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. The Lakers however were probably a second round playoff team at best at the start of this year, but with the addition of Paul Gasol and the MVP play of Kobe Bryant have catipulted them to the brink of another championship. But will it be enough to take down the big 3? Boston has home court which could prove big for the Celtics. I hope this series goes at least 6 games 7 would be great. I know Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are as hungry as anyone to win their first Championship. But slowing down the X Factor-Kobe may be the difference in this Finals. I can't wait for Thursday night to come let's get this party started!

Lakers-Spurs tonight!

Okay a big one tonight, can the Spurs keep homecourt going and even it up 2-2? What will the Lakers do to slow down Ginobli? If they do what about Parker and Duncan? Uh a tough task for any team. Kobe and the Lakers would love to steal one on the road and go up 3-1 but it won't be easy...they will have to slow down 2 of the Spurs big 3 for sure like they did in games 1 and 2. Should be an interesting next week in the NBA that is fo' shizzle!

How about the Celtic's and Pistons series. This one is back and forth so far each team has taken one away on the others homecourt. I do expect this series to go 7 games most certainly. Billups and Hamilton played great yesterday in a must win game at home in my opinion. I still can't believe Ray Allen missed two free throws in a row at the end there, the game was pretty much in hand but still what is going on with my man Ray Ray?

Lakers pound Spurs take 2-0 lead

How about that game last night? The Lakers pounded the Spurs at home and now have a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. The Lakers better learn from the Hornets though. If you recall the Hornets easily handled the Spurs at home and also went up 2-0. Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant played great and Farmar did too. I expect the Spurs to play much better at home. If the Lakers can somehow steal one on the road then this series will probably go to the Lakers but if the teams keep winning on their own home courts a game 7 in LA would be exciting but also tough as the Spurs have alot of experience. I do think the Lakers are better and more experienced than the Hornets though.

Lakers steal one at Staples!

Wow the Lakers down 20 points midway through the 3rd quarter at Staples center and they manage to come back! Amazing and they should breath a huge sigh of relief. Going down 0-1 and losing home court would have been a huge problem inmy opinion. Whewww! could be heard all over Los Angeles last night. Great play in the 4th quarter by the one and only Kobe Bryant helped alot. The Lakers cannot afford to come out cold in the first half again against the Spurs. I think it could of been a combination of great play by the Lakers and Kobe but the Spurs were a bit tired I am sure from a long overnight flight and they spent alot of energy to get that lead too. The Lakers should learn from this and play better the entire game tomorrow.

Celtics Pistons, Lakers Spurs...

A nice start to the series by the Celtics last night. They are tough to beat at home that is for sure. Will they beat the Pistons as expected and face the Lakers or Spurs in the Finals? Garnett played well scoring 26 points and leading his team to the victory. What is going on with Ray Allen? Man he is usually clutch in the playoffs at least he was with the Sonics, of course they did not have the talent the Celtics do. He is a great shooter and should wake up soon and get in a groove.

Okay the big game tonigth Lakers and Spurs. This series will be a battle! I am expecting a hard fought game tonight with the fresher Lakers playing at home getting the win. How many points will Kobe score? Who can stop him or Tony Parker? We will find out soon enough. Go Lakers! I am sick and tired of the boring old Spurs!

NBA Playoffs

Well the defending champs experience and savvy was the difference last night. I was hoping the young Hornets could keep their home court dominance going but momentum had swung to the Spurs and experience proved valuable last night, dang it! The Hornets shooting was just a bit off last night especially when they needed it most. Oh well the boring old Spurs travel to face Kobe and the Lakers tomorrow. This series will be great and probably goes 7 games as well. I don't know who will take this one but I am looking forward to seeing how Gasol does vs. Duncan. I am assuming they will face each other often unless Jackson decides to put Odom on Duncan. No one on the Spurs can stop Kobe but who on the Lakers can stop Tony Parker? We shall see soon!

NBA Playoffs

What a game 7 between the Celtics and the Cavaliers! Lebron James was awesome and so was Paul Pierce. They both carried their teams and left everything on the floor. Home court advantage was pretty much the difference in this series, although game 7 was very close and the Celtics just had a bit more control than the Cav's did.

Tonight game 7 Spurs and Hornets, I can't wait to see what happens. This one will be close I believe. I see the Hornets in a close one that is if David West is healthy. It will be tough to close out the defending champs though. I expect Tim Duncan, Tony Parket and Chris Paul to play well. Who else will step up?

Lakers finish off Jazz

Finally a team has won on the road! The Lakers were looking good most of the game but the Jazz would not go down easy that is for sure. The Jazz made some great plays in the last 5 minutes but Kobe Bryant and the Lakers were just to much and hit most of their free throws in the clutch. Derek Fisher missed one with about 10 seconds left and the Jazz quickly got the rebound and passed it down court for a chance at a game tying 3 pointer. They had two tries at it but just could not get it to go down. So the Lakers win a tight series in 6 games. So who is next for the Lakers? Any predictions out there? Will the Hornets be able to hold off the defending champs in game 7 at home? I can't wait to watch that game!

Spurs and Hornets

Well the road woes continue with this series too as the Spurs easily handled the Hornets at home. It is getting harder to predict the outcome of this series but I do still like the Hornets chances at home in game 7. Man that was a cheap foul buy Horry on West! It looked like he stuck his elbow in there pretty good. He should have recieved a technical foul for that too.

I am looking forward to seeing what happens in game 6 at Cleveland. If the pattern continues and I have no reason to believe it won't, Lebron and the Cav's will force a game 7. Same goes for the Jazz and the Laker series, is there something in the visiting locker rooms water or what?

Lakers, Celtics take 3-2 leads....Hornets try to close it out.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics both had to win at home last night and both did just that. Kobe only took 10 shots which was a shocker to me! Gasol played great and the Lakers held off the Jazz in a close game at the Staples center. If you are a Laker fan you must have been nervous as it was a close one at the end! I think this one will go 7 games as it seems that home court is a big advantage in this years playoffs.

The Celtics did what they had to do as well and take care of their precious home court. Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo played great, the difference was Rondo in my opinion as he had 20 points and 13 assists and created havoc in the lane with his scoring as assists. Doc Rivers was right the Celtics are a much better team when they make the extra pass!

For the first time in 2 years the Spurs are playing a must win game but it is at home where they play well. Can the Hornets close them out on the Spurs home court? Well I think that will be tough what do you think? If Tim Duncan does not wake up today this series will end tonight. Especially if Paul and West keep playing the way they have been for most of this series. This game will be fun to watch, I think the winner of this series may win it all we shall see.

NBA PLAYOFFS 2008

Last night the Hornets had to win and they came out firing on all cylinders. David West was awesome last night with a career high 38 points 14 rebounds and 5 blocks! Chris Paul was very good as well with 22 points and 14 assists! Tim Duncan was held to a low 10 points which is amazing! I expect the Spurs to put up a tough fight in game 6 at home, but the Hornets appear unstoppable at home and the Spurs will have to find that old championship form quick or the Hornets will march on to the Western conference finals.

Now for the Celtics and Cavaliers game 5 tonight. A must win at home for Boston. Will the great Ray Allen finally start hitting some shots? He is a great pure shooter one of the best ever and can kill you if you give him an inch so we will see what happens with that. I am not sure if anyone in the East has what it takes to win the championship right now.

Lakers vs. Jazz game 5 should be exciting to watch at the Staples center. Kobe plays great anywhere most of the time but at home he is pretty much unstoppable. I look for the Lakers to bounce back tonight at home vs. Utah. For the Jazz to win Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer will have to play great and keep the other Lakers in check as keeping Kobe in check may to be much to ask.

NBA Playoffs 2008

So last night Lebron James and the Cavaliers held serve and won on their home court as expected. The Boston Celtics can't seem to figure out how to win on the road in the playoffs. It was much easier and always will be in the regular season but it's a whole new game in the playoffs. This series is going to be fun to watch and as I said before will go 7 games most likely.
Will Boston win it or Cleveland?

In the Spurs and Hornets series the Spurs obviously have taken the momentum winning the past two games, will that last? I think this is a must win game at home tonight for the Hornets, if they go down 3-2 and have to win game 6 on the champs home court that would be a really tough task. Chris Paul, David West and Tyson Chandler better bring it tonight and I think they will and win a fairly close one.

Blogger Buzz: Updates and Bug Fixes for May 9th

NBA Playoffs

Wow what a crazy weekend in the NBA. The Utah Jazz have come storming back down 0-2 to even things up Deron Williams had a great game in the O.T. win yesterday in Utah, they are tough the beat at home this series looks like it may go 7 games now. I still say the Lakers will
take it though.

The Celtics continue to struggle on the road, will they win a road game this year in the playoffs? I think this one could go 7 games now too as the Cav's and Lebron are also tough to beat at home. Makes for some exciting basketball for sure. It looks like the Pistons should finish up in 5 against the Magic but you never know since Chauncey Billups is still hurting.

The Spurs altough boring are making the Hornets work for it now. After being down 0-2 they made a statement last night pounding the young Hornets in San Antonio, but the hornets and Chris Paul are tough at home too so I expect this series to go 7 games now. That seventh game in New Orleans is going to be crazy! I hope to see the Hornets pull off the huge upset since no one gave them a chance in this series! I am out for now. Dan

Lakers, Jazz....

So tonight is the return of Derek Fisher to Utah, the spot where he came back from New York last year after his daughters surgery and hit a big 3 pointer in O.T. to win the game. I am hoping he gets a good round of applause from the Jazz fans I think he will.

Last nights games were interesting, the Celtics took a commanding 2-0 lead against Lebron and the Cav's. Let's see how the Cav's respond when they get back home should be fun to watch. I expect them to put up a good fight at home.

Well the Spurs responded with their backs against the wall and came out with a big win. Chris Paul and David West played great but the Spurs hit alot of tough shots and kept the pressure on
the Hornets in a game that seemed close until about 5 minutes left. I expect the Hornets to come back tough in game 4, it should be obvious by now that Chris Paul cannot be stopped and if they double team him that leaves West or Stoyokovich wide open. I still think the Hornets win this series.

Playoffs...

Well as expected the Lakers are still rolling, Kobe finally got his MVP award. This series might go 5 games but the Jazz just look a bit slower than the Lakers.Derek Fisher is playing well and definately gave the Lakers a spark last night. The Pistons Magic series is getting more interesting, Rashard Lewis andDwight Howard played well last night, let's see if they can make it interesting andwin one in Detroit which won't be easy. I am looking forward to game 3 tonight of the Spurs Hornets series. I think the Spurs will respond well at home but then again the Hornets are playing great and I expect this one to come down to the wire tonight.

NBA Playoffs

Well the playoffs are getting more interesting now that the pretenders in the first round are all gone. I think it will be very interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. Will the Hornets take down the mighty Spurs? A 2-0 lead is a great start. Will Kobe and the red hot Lakers win another championship and bring the old Glory back to tinseltown? What about the Celtics can they even make it to the finals as expected after a tight seven game series vs. Atlanta? Anything but the Spurs winning the championship again would be a start, who wants to see that again aside from folks in San Antonio? I am hoping for either a Lakers -Celtics final or a Hornets- Celtics final, that Chris Paul kid is amazing!
